“In The Moment”

Embracing Mindfulness as a Way of Life

Welcome to “The Garden of Awakening” or “觉园”, the name of a hermitage inhabited by practitioners who adopt mindfulness as a way of life. All inhabitants share a common goal of aspiring to recognise their innate nature in this lifetime. Read more about our vision, tagline, value system and practice environment.

TUNE-IN

To build a community of mindfulness practitioners and support participants to fully embody mindfulness in their daily lives, we organise a weekly online mindfulness practice, called “Tune-In“, where participants meet virtually, every Tuesday night, for about 60 minutes to practice mindfulness and share experiences of their inner worlds.

TURN-OUT

Once a month, we also conduct an outdoor activity to the parks, called “Turn-Out“, where participants reconnect outwards with mother nature and engage in mindfulness exercises such as yoga movement, walking and seated meditation out in the nature, savouring the fresh air and warm morning sun.

Our Partners

It is widely known that mindfulness per se is not a panacea. Although practising mindfulness can change our perception on what things really are, instead of being fixated on how things must be based on our experience and prior learning, it has its limitations.

Over the years, people who have deepened their mindfulness practice will invariably go beyond mindful living to explore insightful living. An insight into the truths of phenomena can alter one’s outlook on one’s life experiences and enables one to fully embrace every moment with love, kindness, empathy, and compassion.

This is because both mindfulness and insight practice share the same underpinnings from Buddhism, such as the three marks of existence, the four noble truths, the four foundations of mindfulness, the eight-fold path, the twelve interdependent origination and many others . It is therefore not surprising that here at the Garden of Awakening, we are closely affiliated to a Dzogpa Sangye Buddhist Society, a religious organisation registered with the Singapore authorities, and Mind Place – Centre for the Preservation of Buddhist Heritage , a private museum in Singapore that archives a respectable collection of Buddhist artefacts.
